Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is an Mexican-American sportscaster. She is an ESPN anchor for news and also hosts SportsNation at times. She joined ESPN in 2016. Her mother is the journalist on television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins has been bilingual since she was nine years old. It was a helpful skill that helped her secure her first job as a production assistant with Univision in Miami where she had the chance to collaborate with producers of national programming like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Then she was offered the position of a reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate after that. In 2009, she relocated to Rio Grande Valley, Texas in order to be reporter for news on KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Covering stories on immigration and trafficking in drugs on both sides of the Texas-Mexico border, she was the reporter for newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor and reporter for anchoring the 9 p.m. news in English as well as another reporter for the 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. The duties of anchoring for weather, sports or other events were frequent requests. She then anchored and reported on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She covered major events such as the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and NBA Postseasons as well as the Finals FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. Apart from that, she also produced Univision 23's local sports broadcast Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor. The show was promoted to be anchor of the sports segment for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same as a reporter for the magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. She was born on 22nd November 1984 in Mexico City. Her sister is also there. The family in 1992 relocated from Mexico and relocated to Miami. Their divorce was soon followed in 1995. Her mother was remarried to one of the naval architects named Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in 2006. The break in summer that she spent with her younger sister living in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had secured a job. A senior at high school, but with a clear idea what she would like to accomplish in her future, Antonietta attended at the University of Mount Union to assess if it suited her preferences. In the end, she loved the campus and it offered the degree she was looking for. She finished school and enrolled in the university with a major in media studies. Her instructor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was participant in her class built a relationship that lasted for a lifetime with the student. The passion he had for journalism as well as the confidence she had in herself encouraged her. She in turn was determined to achieve his expectations and never disappoint him.
